Hi,

we´re German divers on a (non-diving)vacation in the US and tonight we will come to Monterey. It would be great if we could dive in the Monterey area tomorrow (we would need rental equpiment). Anyone with an idea where to dive and where to rent the equipment? Of course it would also be great if someone likes to go for a little dive with us ;-)

Cheers,
Ina

You can rent equipment at the Breakwater (San Carlos beach/Coast Guard pier) at Glenn's Aquarius and right next to it is a popular dive location for classes, though there won't be any classes tomorrow, probably. You could also rent gear at Glenn's Aquarius and then take it to Carmel, to Point Lobos, about 15-20 minutes south on highway 1. You enter at Whaler's Cove at point lobos, middle reef is right in between the cove near the ocean.

Took your advise and went to Lobos.
Nice group of divers and non diver. Vis was 30', Blueish water both at Lone Metridium and mid reef. 48 degrees fahrenheit (Aeris) and 9 degress Celsius (Suunto), hopefully the recipe for upwelling for next weekend. It was calm early in the day but the surge picked up a bit in the afternoon.
