Chuck Tribolet usually posts links to interesting ba_diving posts but, alas, he can't post this one:

It is with great sadness that I inform the dive community of our loss.
My husband, Chuck Tribolet, passed away on October 12th in our home in
Morgan Hill. He had been suffering from gall bladder cancer for the
past year.

I believe he accepted his eminent death more easily than knowing he
could not dive again. Diving was his world. I reminded him not long
ago that we saw a humpback whale underwater, which is not something
every diver will experience in their life time. So in 17 years of
frequent diving, we learned a lot about the ocean and its critters.
Fortunately I have Chuck's pictures for my memories.

I plan on a Celebration of Chuck's Life on Saturday, October 25th,
starting at 2 p.m. at our home in Morgan Hill. Please email me offline
if you need the address. Please bring any stories of your experiences
with Chuck to the celebration to share with everyone. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Chuck's
memory.

Chuck was an awesome mentor to all Bay Area divers. He was easy to approach and always willing to share his encyclopedic knowledge of local diving. His advice to new divers and of course his dive conditions at a glance have been a staple of every dive planning step.

Thank you for all you have done for the dive community.

Rest in peace my friend.

I only met Chuck once, by happenstance while disabled at Whaler's Cove, but I've long appreciated his good-natured and able contributions to the dive and photography worlds. He is cherished and will be missed.

RIP Chuck:goingdown: ( thanks for all the contribution to the Sport)

I never met Chuck, this makes me exceedingly sad. He was a pillar in the Norcal diving community. My prayers go out to his family and friends in this time.

RIP Chuck. To his friends and family, sorry for your loss,
