What an unusual year! Back during the late 1970s El Nino a biologist friend of mine was swimming in Lover's Cove here in Avalon (Catalina Island) and looked over to see a hammerhead swimming along beside her.

I heard that there was an "attack" by a hammerhead at Anacapa last weekend (Aug 7-8). Apparently some spear fisherman off the Peace Boat tried to contend with a hammerhead over a fish in his hand. Diver got a bite, and hammerhead the fish...

Anyone else heard details?
