Talking with my non-diver husband, we've narrowed down a plan for me to dive based on the suggestions in my other thread. I'm going to hire a guide and shore dive from the Santa Cruz area. My equipment is GUE configured (however I will not have had my GUE training before I come down in mid-June during mid-week) so I'd like to work with a LDS that has a guide with the same configuration. Please don't blast me for this preference.... I'll be dependant on the shop to provide the vehicle and a solid reputation.....

Are you only able to dive in Santa Cruz? Most of the divers from that area come down to Monterey to dive. It's only another 60 miles and the diving is worlds apart.

Well golly, we are coming down from San Fran already so I was hoping to shave an hour off the trip but if the diving is as you say, then I do need to go further south....

In Monterey, you might be able to find some BAUE divers to play host and tour guide.

I live in Monterey and while I'm not BAUE I do dive CCR tech. If the timing works I could show you around down here.

there nothing to dive for in santa crus.. sorry

Thankyou for the advice....I'll talk to my husband and see what his thoughts are, after all he will need to decide if he wants to spend the day down there with our graduating senior and her friend--this trip is her graduation present...she likes the big cities!

Lynne I hadn't heard of BAUE, thanks for that!

Drin thanks for your potential offer....I'll get back to you on that in a p/m.
