I recently read The Fragile Edge: Diving and Other Adventures in the South Pacific by Julia Whitty and thought it might be of interest to readers of the Ocean Conservation forum. Whitty is a former underwater documentary filmmaker and is an environmental correspondent for Mother Jones.

This is an excellent book that documents both the beauty and challenges facing coral reefs, combined with a love of being in the water. I appreciated both the science (hey, I'm a scientist!) within the book and the gorgeous, lyrical prose.

You can read the first chapter online via the NY Times:

Anyone else reading this?
