Just curious about the status of lingcod and different types of rockfish. The Vancouver Aquarium is running a volunteer lingcod egg-mass counting program, and clearly they classify the lingcod as threatened.
I've read that rockfish live up to over a century, don't breed until they're 20, have few young, and rarely breed. Many populations have declined 90+%. Sounds pretty endangered. Which species are the most endangered? Rockfish, Kelp Forest, Fishes, Sebastes spp
Plus what's the status on the legality of fishing these species of fish (in Canada and the USA). I, for one, don't support it based on what I've read. I just often see people fishing at some dive sites I frequent. Also, I skimmed through the hunting forum on this site and noticed some people frequently hunt rockfish/lingcod.
