Looking for a volunteer dive trip

I'm interested in a short volunteer dive trip this summer working with marine plants or animals. I would prefer a relatively short volunteer experience (10 days or less) somewhere in the United States, preferably in the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean. I am new to diving and have been very unsuccessful thus far in finding a trip in the US. I'm a college student from the midwest so I would need to travel to the site of my dive. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
