I had a couple people stiff me on payment for a couple whips I made them. So I'm putting them for sale here. They are both cleaned for O2 service. I have two whips, one is on a 4' hose and the other is on a 6' hose. The hoses are teflon cored, stainless steel braided hoses. DIN fittings with bleeders on each end. There is an analog gauge on one end as well. I'm asking $150 each plus shipping. I just want to make back what it cost me to make them. I don't have a need for 2 more whips.
You have no idea how handy these things are, they will change your life. Need a bit of air in your argon bottle? No problemo . . .
Want to get two or three dives off a set of doubles? Bring along a single HP 130, transfill on the surface interval. Got two singles, one at 1800 (not enough for a dive) another at 3000 . . . even them out, get two dives in.
Brilliant little gadgets, I highly recommend them. I've also seen PPO2's work on these (a dive buddy bought one) and they are a great deal and well put together.
This benevolent purchase to help a diver out will change your life.
I mostly use it for transfilling from my doubles into student's tanks. That way they don't have to pay for a full fill to finish off a dive for class or something. It is a good tool to have when teaching/assisting with classes.
I've also seen people use HP130 tanks to store argon, then transfill from there into their argon bottle. These whips are good for that.
These great for any diver, you don't need to be Tech...
I don't have one, but I know they're great for making 3 dives with two tanks...
Start with (2) 3,000 tanks (assume same size tanks and mix)
Dive 1: use 2,000 psi from tank A (leaving 1,000 in A),
then use tank B (still 3,000) to 'fill' tank A so that both A&B will have 2,000
Dive 2: finish tank A (use 1,500ish)
Dive 3: finish tank B (use 1,500ish)
Depending on the cost of fills/tank rentals this could pay for it self in about 10 uses, not to mention the conveinence factor.
Guys, I was sorta kidding about 'teach me how to use it?' And now Im starting to realize HOW MANY uses I can get with this snazzy whiz bang chingadera.
Teach on gentlemen, teach on!
Thank you for the knowledge base O' uses. I sent my foodstamps and illegal cigarettes off to PPO2 for payment yesterday, going to dig one of my out of hydro'd deco bottles out of storage, and go fill it with argon.
I have a noob question. I am not a tech diver...YET...but I am trying to make all my gear purchases with that in mind. If I used a whip to fill an argon bottle, would I still be able to use it with breathing gasses as well or would I need seperate whips?
If you are filling argon that is stored in a scuba tank, yes you can use these whips for other breathing gasses. After transfilling an inert gas (such as argon), I would flush the whip with air before filling a scuba cylinder. That way you can avoid getting any unwanted inert gas in your tank. If you are filling from an argon supply bottle (from a gas company), they use different CGA fittings. My whips don't have those fittings, unless specified. I make many different whips for mixing Nitrox and trimix.
