    RussR,

I have something else for you to check. I got my SP-350, Ike housing, and DS-125 strobe out today and was playing with it. So far in my limited UW photo experience, I have just left the strobe in TTL and have never had any sync issues.

Today I tried to shoot the strobe in the manual position at full power. The strobe fired, but the picture was black. An obvious sync issue. I switched the strobe back to TTL and the pic came out perfectly.

So, I started playing with the flash options on the SP-350. I have my MyModes all programmed to External flash and have never used either of the two other settings (Internal/External, Slave). I switched this to SLAVE and set the strobe to manual full power. Ta-Da! Perfect pic!

What I figured out was that I wanted the flash option in the SP-350 set to EXTERNAL strobe if I was using the strobe in TTL. I needed the flash option in the SP-350 set to SLAVE if I was using the strobe in Manual mode.

Give that a try and see if that helps you out at all.

switch the camera strobe setting to SLAVE
That's what I was going to suggest. If you take the battery/ies out to recharge the settings all reset themselves. Make sure to check this setting every time you use the camera

Is there a difference between setting the camera to slave and using the strobe in Manual? and setting to External and using the strobe in TTL? Are there advantages?

Actually I dont believe I can use the power settings on the Ikelite Manual Controller if I have the strobe set to Manual. I like the ability to dial the strobe power and have been practicing with this on land.

    Thanks for the advice though!

the strobe MUST be on ttl for the controller to function ..the controller IS the manual control this way,for you are setting the power output.
