Hi

I have an Olympus OM-D EM5, which for the past few months I have been using topside (no more diving until get signed off post pfo closure - fingers crossed that will be in the next month), I have invested in and enjoyed the following lenses:

Oly 12-50mm
Oly 9-18mm
Oly 60mm
Pan 20mm

I am wanting to invest when I get my fitness certificate in the Nauticam housing, but I am struggling with what ports to buy. I am pretty sure I want to have a port for the 60mm as I love macro and plan on a trip to Lembeh soon. But I'm struggling with the wide angle do I get the port for the 12-50mm? the port for the 9-18mm or do I get the 8mm fisheye lens and port (never used a fisheye, but I love the photos).

While the 12-50mm is an ok lens is it worth the port?

I'm not sure I would want to use the Pan 20mm.

My other kit includes an Inon s-2000.

Recommendations re tray and handles would also be appreciated.

With the Nauticam or the Olympus housing for the E-M5 or the E-M1 you could get buy with one port for the 60mm macro and 12-50 zoom. With Nauticam it would be the 65 port which would allow you to zoom the 12-50 but not move it to the macro setting. To get macro you need the expensive port. For the 9-18 you need the curved four inch dome port and for the 8mm fisheye you need the 3.5 or 4.33 inch ports from Nauticam. Zen has similar ports for the Olympus housings.

Nauticam Flex tray II is best for the E-M5 housing, E-M1 housing comes with grips.

Sp Phil, If i understand your comments correct.

In the Nauticam setup, if you purchase the 65 macro port, you can use to 60mm macro and 12-50mm lens. There are some restrictions in the 12-50mm in that port, where you cannot specifically use the macro function for that lens (12-50mm).

However to use the macro function for the 12-50mm, you need this port Macro Port w/77mm & 12-50mm Gear Set :: Sea Optics - Underwater Photography Underwater Equipment, Pelican Cases and Inon Specialists Adelaide?

Thanks Phil, in terms of the 12-50mm how do you zoom in either of those ports? I assume you need a gear (I'm not referring to the expensive access the macro function gear)? Would the 12-50mm gear work in the 60mm port?

If you can afford, good to have dedicated ports. Otherwise, you can use the 4" semi dome port for 12-50mm, 60mm and 9-18mm.
So far, I'm happy using the 4" semi dome port (+ flip adapter) for 12-50mm and 60mm.
I don't have 9-18mm, but 7-14mm which require 6" dome.
I will use the 12-50mm if I don't know exactly what I will see on the dive; so I can shoot either WA at 12 mm (not very wide) or macro (at 50mm + wet lens). You can control 12 mm or 50mm with Fn button.
I will use 7-14mm for WA only or 60mm with dome port If Iwant to shoot macro only. So far no problem, magnification will be less but I can add 1 or 2 wet lens if necessary.

Nauticam housing with 60mm, 12-50mm and pan 8mm lenses. Use the 12-50 expensive port to fit both the 60 and 12-50 lenses with access to all functions (excellent port).

So the up shot is:

Have a port that can accommodate the 12-50mm, which can be used if i'm not sure of what I may see
The 60mm can also fit in the 12-50mm for when doing dedicated macro (it's a fantastic lens)
For wide angle I'm not sure so I'll wait until I'm sure I want fisheye or the 9-18mm which I think suffers underwater.

Thanks all.

I doubt that you would need the 9-18 underwater if you have the pan8mm lens. The pan8mm lens is the way to go. With all three and proper Nauticam ports you got everything covered with the best that there is available for U/W use. (Some would argue that you also may need to use the 7-14mm however).
