Which is the best equipment insurance program for my gear and MAINLY my oly c5060 camera and pt 020 housing? the depp or dan or any others that anyone else has used.
Have you made a claim (on a camera) and how were you treated by the insurance company, and in a timley manner?

This is one of those subjects you'll get lots of different answers to.

I'm a huge fan of DEPP. I've used them since we bought our first set of gear and for every camera rig I've had since then. I've made several claims from flooding to impact damage to theft/loss and have always had my claimed processed quickly and to my complete satisfaction. DEPP does does pay you money, they have your stuff repaired or replace it.

Some of the other carriers pay you money back and you replace the gear yourself.

Somewhere there is a comparison of DEPP, DAN and generic Homeowners policies...I'll try to find it.

A dive op in FL bounced my rig off the deck. Got back, filed a claim, got a check real, real quick. No hassle. A couple of faxes and a check showed up to fully cover all repair costs less deductable ($100.)

    I couldn't be more pleased.

On the manufacturer repair side, that's another story. But on the insurance side, very easy.

I agree with Dee.... I switched from Dan when their coverage changed. DEPP has been extremely responsive & no hassle.

I just insured my equipment with State Farm for $1.60 per $100 value. It covers everything with a 0 deductible. If it floods, 100% covered, stolen, 100% covered, dropped, lost at sea, what ever 100% covered. Oh yah if it can not be fixed they pay you what you insured it for.

I am going to call my agent i didn't know they took care of dive gear. I have my boat insured through them.

Thanks everyone so far for the info but i am still unsure which to go with. DEPP looks kind of interesting, and so does state farm. I know the way they(state farm) works and have been very pleased with them with my boat insurance.

    Does depp have a deductible?

Do you know this about DEPP

DEPP insurance can be reduced or cancelled after two claims within 12 months,so be careful about what you submit when.

In DEPP’s fine print that there is a trigger point of two claims within 12 months that could result in reduced or canceled coverage.

    http://www.equipmentprotection.com/p...deppforms.html

Customers that have two (2) losses in a twelve (12) month period may be subject to underwriting restrictions or termination from the program. There are no cash settlements as a result of any direct physical loss. Your equipment is repaired or replaced. A $25.00 deductible applies per claim for equipment losses. A $25.00 deductible or 10% of the actual total claim, or a maximum of $250.00 applies to all flood claims. A late fee will be assessed for any unpaid deductible.
