    First time in Kingston

I will be there 8/22/07 and 8/23/07. Any tips on dive operators, wrecks, places to see/eat? All info is welcome.

If you have google earth, you can download the Ontario Underwater Council's shipwreck database and zoom in on Kingston. It will show all the moored wrecks with full description, links to pictures, as well as location of dive shops and charter operators.

The main website is: http://www.underwatercouncil.com or you can download the database and open with google earth: http://www.underwatercouncil.com/dow...ctory_v2.0.kmz

You can also check out a few kingston wrecks on my home page with full picture gallery, description and locations for kingston: http://www.warrenlophotography.com/uw/kingston

Oh, yah, though it's been quite a few years since I lived in Kingston, you have to have breakfast at Morrison's at least once. Check out a directory at: http://www.downtownkingston.ca/bd_browse.php?tID=104. A lot of places have come and gone since my days there, but a few of my favourites that have lasted the test of time: Chez Piggy, Curry Village, Copper Penny, Mino's, Toucan, Pilot House. These are all downtown Kingston within walking distance of each other.

Are the barge near the maritime museum and the stacked hulls at Portsmouth Harbor still in decent shape? I was looking at popping over on 8/18 for a change of pace, introduce a few NY people to the area.

(I know the Cardinal/Prescott dives, am specifically looking for a few Kingston area spots that are doable from shore).

    Thanks.

The Stacked Hulls is an alright dive, although due to the distance from shore you want doubles to do it. There isn't much to the Marine Museum barge. Mostly a pile of wood and some ribs sticking out of the bottom. Northern Tech Diver http://www.northerntechdiver.com/ runs charters out of Collins Bay and also has nitrox and air fills.
