    Steam Engine in Georgian Bay?

Has anyone dove or heard the story of an old steam engine that was lost in Georgian Bay near Midland? My brother lives up there and was told the story from an old gentleman in town. Apparently at one time there was a rail track on cribs and the steam engines would use this track to venture offshore and pick up lumber that was towed in by ships. Somehow one of the old steam engines ended up in the bay. I’d never heard this story and have never heard of anyone diving this. My brother asked a few of the divers up there and they weren't aware of anything. Just trying to find out if there is actually something out there or is this an old wives tale? Thanks.

I would suggest you contact Cris Kohl. Cris has written many books on Great Lakes shipwrecks and is a valuable resource about local "lore and legend!"

Cris lives in Chicago, but can be seen at many of the scuba-related shows around the Great Lakes. His website would be a good place to start.
