Tried Oxycheq wing with/without Oxycheq mini-STA. I like using the STA better. The tank seems to line up easier/less hassle when using the STA. But is solid even when not. Mini-STA simple and small/lightweight. No problem to travel with.

Just to close the loop - the 18 lb wing does definitely work fine with a halcyon weighted sta or the equivalent.

Not strictly true, I use a Halcyon STA which is rectangle in shape with an Oxy 30lb, works fine.

The thing is, I *like* using an STA. For one thing, when I dive singles I often am using a yoke rental tank so I need a DIN-Yoke adapter and the STA puts the regulator further from the back of my head. For another, I have a Salvo weighted STA, and I like it because it puts the weight where its helpful for trim. I like that weighted STA, and I want to keep using it.

Is the consensus that the Salvo/Halcyon style rectangular STAs will not work with the 18# wing?

scottm - I hope I can get a look at yours soon!
halcyon will work, I use one with my Oxy, only issue can be that when cam bands are threaded through the STA the top cam band is now higher so you lose some of the adjustment (up/down on the tank), i.e. for me it sat the tank too high and made the 1st stage hit the back of my head too much, I ended up just threading the bands through the plate (DR) and wing while still using the STA.

The AGIR STA in post#10 looks great with the second set of slots at the top. I had a DR STA and cut another set of slots (Nemrod Mod) as with the AGIR.
