    Tahiti and Rangiroa

My wife and I are going to Tahiti and Rangiroa this January. Our plan is to go on the Aggressor for a week than spend 5 days on Rangiroa in search of the Giant Hammerhead.

Anybody have recomendations on moderately priced places to stay on Tahiti and Rangiroa? We tried the Pension Bounty on Rangiroa but they are on holiday the week we will be there.

I did Rangiroa a couple of years ago. You will love it. It is awesome diving and an interesting place to visit. We stayed at Kia Ora which is definitely NOT cheap but nothing in Tahiti is. The pensions are the cheapest option and there are several in Rangiroa. Just google 'pension' and 'Rangiroa accommodation' and I'm sure you'll get some hits.

There are about half a dozen dive operators and they will all pick up from your accommodation. I dived with Top Dive who were the cheapest and I can certainly recommend them. All the operators use 'zodiac' type rigid hull inflatables and you mainly dive the two passes. If the current is right it is mindblowingly good!

    Have fun.
