I have searched around but couldn't find much current info regarding Solomon diving.
I read that the best time for diving Solomon is Oct-Nov. Has anyone dived there in May and how was the conditions: rain? viz? windy? calm seas? I am not sure if May is a good time to go.
I am thinking about doing the Bilikiki liveaboard in May. If you have been on this liveaboard (preferably within the last 2 years), please comment on the boat and the diving. I have heard contradicting info about Bilikiki.
Have you checked out the current political unrest in the Solomons? It might change your mind about heading there. If you are not into diving WW II battle sites, you might consider the Coral Sea or Papua New Guinea as a more peaceful alternative. If not, let me know and I will give you some more info...
You are looking at the tale end of the monsoon season.
So you can expect hot days with late afternoon rain pretty much everyday. It is nice and cool after the heat of the day and I prefer it to no rain at all.
As for Unrest there is little to none the capital Honiara is not a very nice place to stay but you would usually hope an internal flight as soon as you arrive.
The outer islands are fine; there is no unrest on any of them.

I"ve just returned from the Solomon Islands last week and absolutely loved it.
The diving was amazing, so much to see, great vis and warm water.
We stayed at two islands one in the Russells area and the other in Florida area.
Maravagi and Yandina, both are great resorts. Maravagi being my preference with superb snorkeling you could do for hours.
The days were quite hot and it rained some nights when we were in bed.
Make sure you're covered for Malaria too.
