Yesterday morning, one of our board members experienced a family loss. mike_s lost his mother early in the morning to a protracted illness. The following obituary is posted from the Decatur Daily, the local newpaper in Mike's hometown.........

Memorial service for Sara "Sally" Whiddon Sutton, 63, of Decatur will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Stonbraker officiating and Ridout's BrownService Funeral Home direct-ing. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with a private graveside service at a laterdate. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sutton, who died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at her residence, was born March 11, 1944, in Griffin, Ga., to Mr. and Mrs. James M. Whiddon. She was a graduate of The University of Georgia. She worked as a Realtor and mortgage processor.
She became an avid quilter and was a member of the Piece Makers Quilting Group, Happy Heart Quilt Guild and the Quilt Lovers. She was also a member of the Renewal Sunday school class at Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Michael "Mickey" A. Sutton; two sons, Michael M. Sutton and his wife, Carey, and grandson, Matthew, of Decatur and Russell C. Sutton of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and two sisters, Betty Whiddon Parker and her husband, Chester, of Fayetteville, Ga., and Jane Whiddon and her husband, Wade Troutman, of Bridgeport, Wash.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1211 Westmeade Street S.W., Decatur, AL 35601 and/or Hospice of North Alabama NonProfit Foundation, 3311 Bob Wallace Avenue, Suite 101, Huntsville, AL 35805.

Mike is a good friend, and his mother was an absolutely wonderful lady. I would like to express my sincere sorrow at the loss of this great lady. I would like to wish Mike, his dad, and all of his family good graces and hope they are able to perservere during this sorrowful time.
