I only met Wes once and we talked about filming, diving and a few other things. He wasn't a personality you soon forget. Though the details of his passing while diving haven't been released, he passes on as a tremendous influence and a real pioneer in our chosen endeavors.

I never met him but not long ago I saw the PBS NOVA documentary about Extreme Cave Diving in Bahamas and he was in it.... After watching it I found out more about him. Wow what an accomplished UW photo- and cinematographer!!! Truly legendary...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: “WOW!!! What a ride!”
I am still being asked by so many. Have the causes of his passing been released as yet. I know he was on his rebreather and not too deep but that's all I have heard.

Thanks for sharing Cave Diver. The "Deeper" article was outstanding. Wes Skiles was a special kind of person that made those who were fortunate enough to meet him better people just for doing so.
