Chuck Tribolet

It is with great sadness that I learned of Chuck's passing on Oct 12, 2014 of gallbladder cancer. He was an icon of Northern California diving. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him, whether in person on the web.

I never met Chuck personally but I did have several email conversations with him though and his Monterey Sea Conditions at a Glance page is my "go to" page for Monterey conditions.

RIP Chuck, I know you will be missed.

Indeed Chuck will very much be missed. We shared many adventures over the years (Farallones FTW!) and he was a constant presence in local diving. The Monterey dive scene and especially the Monterey Shootouts will never be the same.

WHAT?! Chuck Tribolet? Calling him an icon around here might not even describe him well enough. This post stopped me in my tracks. Cancer claims another.

Very sad and the UW photo world will miss him. Chuck always offered a lot of insights and help to UW shooters........
