When is the best time to dive in the Philippines.
I'm planing a dive trip for the second half of March, and wonder if this would be a good time to dive in the Philippines.
Visibility?
I'm into UW-photografy so water viss is important.
liveabord is not an option, due to seasick travel partner....

My first plan was to go to Sipadan or indonesia, but it doesn't seam to be the best time in the year for such a trip, so is the philippines any better season wise?

Thanks in advance

march to may is the best time to dive in the Philippines. you will have a lot of fun here.

I agree with jigo, that is a great time to go. Where are you planning on diving?

Well I don't have any idea realy.
I'm looking for colours in fish and corals :D
And as I love taking pictures vissibility is esential.
I liked what I've seen in Bali and Komodo.

Any recomendations?

Travel throughout the Philippines is not too expensive if you are earning in foreign currency, so check out as many sites while you are there. Good luck!

If you don't want to rough it too much but still have a great dive, you should look into Panglao Island in Bohol ( http://www.panglaoisland.net/ ). Here's one hotel that's not too shabby (http://www.panglaoisland.com/ ) From there, you can dive Balicasag, which has an abudance of sea life, big and small. Here is a link to Bohol Dive Sites: http://www.panglaoisland.net/boholdivesites.htm

Otherwise, you can look into Anilao & Puerto Galera or El Nido. This is a good site for research: http://www.asiadivesite.com/philippines-dive-sites/

Enjoy!

I went to Puerto Galera in June 2005, diving/viz was awesome even though it was monsoon season. Saw beautiful corals, varieties of fishes went through tunnels, a couple of wrecks, and fed bananas to batfishes. Don't forget to try out the Mindoro Sling at a bar (there is a gay bar on sabang beach I believe, if youre interested.. )

We dive mostly Puerto Galera and Anilao but as has been posted, there are a lot of great sites. When in PG, try Atlantis Resort and in Aniloa it's Aquaventure. There will be a lot more of the PPD, Philippine Paradise Divers posting here when they get up.

I heading back in a couple of weeks. I have a lot of photos from the places I mentioned in my gallery.

March to May will be the best....
Atlantis PG one of the best accommodations, make sure plan a dive trip to Verde island....you never regret....paradise

Hey Mr. Pyro!

I'm happy to see Atlantis is getting some front from our friends here :D - just drop me a pm with what you want, and I'll help you to get it all sorted out. Our email me direct on matt@atlantishotel.com

I'm not sure about the bar that Micks mentioned(Mike Veitch might know  ), but either way you're welcome here and will undoubtedly make lots of friends.

Cheers,

Matt.

Pyro, not that you'll get tired of the variety of diving in PG, but if weather permitting, try to head out to Verde island (day trip from PG). When the viz is good, it's amazing. If the currents are running, it's also a blast for the experienced!!

Lot of great resorts/ dive shops in PG. On top of the excellent Atlantis, there's also Asia Divers/ El Galleon Resort and if you want to be a bit further from the Sabang scene, Lalaguna Beach Club over on Big lalaguna beach. Good service and a bit more tranquil on that side.
