Penn had did a great job creating individual maps for most of the known dive sites in the Philippines in the now stickied thread above. I think we have the potential to take this one step further...
I've just started a little project with our local HK dive club to map HK dive sites on Google Maps online site. I was thinking this could have a lot of potential if we could take all the information Penn has collected and put markers on Google Maps for everyone who has an Internet connection could see. For those that are not that familiar with the Philippines, it can be hard trying to figure out exactly where a certain region/ resorts/ dive site is. Putting the site markers on Google Maps, people can zoom in and out to get their references. For those who run dive shops, links can also be inbedded to your resorts.
Just as a test, I've setup a very basic example using Puerto Galera here. (switch to hybrid view for a more detailed satellite map). It's just a simple test and locations may not be accurate... That's where I need every one's help...
Good Idea? PM me... You can set up as many "collaborators" on Google Maps. Just need to setup a google/gmail account.
edit: can a Mod correct the spelling in the thread title... "sites" instead of "sits"... silly me...

No download needed. But you need to create an account on Google/Gmail. Then PM or email me your new google address/ account so then I can make you a collaborator for the dive map. Then you can go have fun adding markers to the map anywhere on the world... You can even create hyperlinks and inbed photos (say from your flickr account or even from a webpage).
my mentor told me yesterday that he needs my thesis defense write up in 2 weeks! :11: So it'll be busy for me up until then but I'll try add some when I can.
