Suggestion to all Anilao Divers to help stop the illegal fishing
Given the recent senseless slaughter of the whale shark, allededly by local fishermen, and the apparent inability of Bantay Dagat to do anything (questions aside of what happens to the divers fee that we are paying each and every day/dive) and the lack of enforcemnt of No Fishing in a designated marine sancutary by Tingloy , I would suggest the following
Everytime we are diving in Anialo we either take pictures of fishing vessels in the area or log the registration number of the fishing vessel (i.e those registered in batangas will have a reg of BAT-123456 )
These pictures and reg numbers can be posted here (i think thats possible to create a page for this)
Even those resort owners along the shore can also report any unscrupelous activity.
I will try and get a contact in DENR to assist with this project
this is just a suggestion as I feel we cant sit back anymore. If we have resources that can assist the DENR in prosecuting these poeople we should uses them.
any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated
Thank you for all the conservation work you have been doing. If only the paid officials would work half as hard.
I hope you can get this off the ground. Sounds like a great idea!!
