Just called Aquaventure, big waves, boats can't go out. :(

We were supposed to go to Outrigger this weekend but we cancelled per resort's advise... :( Will go to Anilao this coming weekend instead.

Hey guys,

just came back from anilao yup the passing typhoon really stirred everything up on the mabini side. even apols, mainit bubbles and secret bay's visibility was not so good. For those hard core rain or shine divers.... not being able to get on a boat at your resort of preference may never be a problem again. Fun Dive Asia and Dive Central have just opened a dive shop right on the shores of bubbles. It is actually a part of the sea springs resort but divers from other resorts are more than welcome to come dive with us. Just drive on over to bubbles and we have a very modern and complete dive shop. (the only one ive seen to date with apeks regs as rentals... ('',) ) You dont even need to rent jeeps to carry your tanks just Drive on over with your gear and we'll handle the rest. When its rough on the resort fronts its flat as a pancake by sea spring so no problem getting on and off the boat. from there you can do apols, mainit, secret bay, red rock, daryl laut and caban cove(a choppy crossing though) without any problems.

Your dive operation will take out divers, even if a storm signal is in place? Doesn't fill me with confidence, to hear claims that you'd be the only operator running under such circumstances.

You know it is 'okay' to cancel diving occasionally - when you put safety ahead of profit. Customers rely on dive operators to make prudent decisions/recommendations in their interests.

Just saying...

FYI it is a well known fact that the mainit/bubbles/secret bay area is very calm during the habagat (southwest monsoon), just like last weekend, when the "flat as a pancake" description was certainly no exaggeration. OTOH, on the mabini side, which faces the southwest, big rolling waves made it difficult, even risky in some areas, for bangkas to park on the shore to load divers and gear. This situation is very predictable and Anilao divers have taken advantage of it for the longest time.

Last weekend we were staying at a house on the mabini side, and the safest, most prudent thing to do for those of us who simply have to dive, is to load tanks into your car (or hire a jeepney for the purpose), and go to the mainit area, which we and many others did. A shop right in the area is definitely a big convenience as we would not have to transport tanks.
