I asked this once before about a year ago, and eventually settled on the Remington for a one night stay while in transit, due to price, location, free shuttle and an amazing breakfast buffet:drooling:, but now I find that they have closed the buffet and replaced it with a McDonalds! The free breakfast is now across the street at a casino, and is very limited. Also, the room rate went up pretty good. Nuts! So, I am looking around again. What do you guys currently recommend for an overnighter for someone who is coming in about 11:30 PM? Shuttle availability would be nice, although that is what taxi's are for I suppose. Free breakfast is also good. What do you guys think currently? Many thanks for your help.

What day will you be arriving? Also, what is your destination the next day? My advice will highly depend on that :)

As Tusheknt mentioned, your next destination would be helpful.

Recently I visited the Philippines. My flight arrived at 10:30 PM and I stayed at the Best Western La Corona. It's located in Ermita, right around the corner from the Sikat bus/ferry departure point for Puerto Galera. The hotel was quiet and comfortable and they included a good buffet. Total cost was about $65.

For my departure I stayed at the Armada Hotel, also about $65. It's a bigger hotel with a few more amenities but both were very nice. The Armada is slightly closer to the airport.

One piece of advice: avoid the ATM machines at the airport. I attempted to withdraw 10,000 Pesos from the first machine (Banknet network). It did not give me any money or a receipt but my account was charged. I had to contact my own bank when I got back home. They temporarily credited my account while they investigate what happened.

If you are going to PG then City State Tower Hotel would be an obvious choice. Sikat departs right outside and the ticket office is inside the lobby. The rate used to include a simple breakfast( you have to check it if it is still available).
A slightly better choice would be Lotus Garden Hotel which is just across the street. There are plenty of similar hotels along Mabini Street.

We should be coming in late on 3/21/15, which is a Saturday evening, and will probably be moving on via private transport to PG the next morning.

We've stayed twice at the Midas, not because we chose it, but because it's the hotel used by the dive op. It's about 20 minutes by van from the airport. Very nice hotel with a casino in it. There is a breakfast buffet, but we never got to it because we had to leave too early, but one of our group asked the hotel to put together a "box breakfast" and they did.
