We had a great day of training with a K9 SAR unit in VA today. The unit is based out of Richmond VA (http://www.k9alert.org/, and also a pretty interesting FAQ sheet) and is a great bunch of people and animals. 2 of the dogs are qual'ed for water searches. The dogs and their handlers are an amazing resource. This is the second training evolution I have done with the unit, we had a callout a few weeks ago for a river search with them but the search was called off (suspect was initially thought to jump in the river to escape the PD but later found on land).

link is a pic of me, less than pleased... after getting a sloppy kiss from a shepard. Whatever happened to dinner and a movie first? At least he didn't think i was a hydrant.

Anyone have any interesting K9 SAR stories to share?
