Some of you might remember the battle we are having with a local developer and marina owner. He wants a first class marina and wants the police and fireboats not only out of HIS marina, but also out of the area.
So again we have been given the final date we can have our boathouses occupy the spaces. The last day of Sept. 2005 we are to be moved out, no exceptions.
Well, after a search that has lasted several years for a space of our own we have a possible option. But Daddy Big Bucks will most likely fight us tooth and nail.
It is the site of an old machine shop that was on the lake in the old steamer days. And, hehehe, it is just off to the side of his precious marina. Any calls we get will send us right by it.
But it does have its problems. We will have to dredge a channel and keep it open all year. Being shallow it is prone to early freezing. Keeping the flophouses free of ice is easy but the channel might not be as easy. As long as the mills are operating we will be ok but their days are numbered so we wont have the tugs running around.
The good side of this is the property might be had at a reasonable cost, as it cant be developed for homes which make it less attractive.
The county just might find a way to condemn it. Who knows? Keep your fingers crossed. If not between us and the fire district we might be able to afford it.

You can see the marina but look to the reight and towards the end of the bay. Right next to the highway near the end of the bay is some buildings. That's it.
