    Question Mild emphysema/COPD

Are there recommended restrictions for a 50+ diver with mild emphysema/COPD to continue diving? Restrictions like depth? time? frequency? I quit smoking two years ago.

Call DAN (Divers Alert Network). They are the experts and can put you in touch with a local physician that can evaluate your condition.

    Seriously?

Yes, there are recommendations. You are placing yourself in great danger from lung overexpansion injury, and increased risk of DCI. If you have a long history of these conditions, there is likely to be damage and scar tissue in your lungs. Only you and your physician can decide, but I would think that it's too great of a risk. You could be placing your dive buddy at risk as well.
