BSAC Equpment Technician or PADI Advanced Equipment
which one would you recommend. I have been told the BSAC course focus more on repairing and servicing gear, and PADI's focus more on deeply understanding the equipment (I guess one might think that's the same thing )
Looking at the description on the BSAC Thailand website, that course looks pretty good, and in depth. I can only find the basic Equipment Specialty with the entry level for the PADI course being 10 years old, I really don't think it will cover anything in too much depth. From the description it covers as much as what should really be picked up from your diver training anyway. Perhaps the Advanced course is unique to Koh Tao?
