Is there a difference between the gold and blue padi cards.

I would simply type "no" but ScubaBoard won't accept posts shorter than five characters.
 
Strange, my month old AOW card is gold.
 
Gold cards are issued by PADI 5-star facilities.
Your certification is unaffected by the color of the card.
 
Gold cards have a neutral buoyancy. Blue cards float, so you need a few grams more lead.
 
When your LDS did your PIC, (ordering your card from PADI), they had a choice of selecting the background on your card. That's it.
