Hi, we are a British couple traveling to Sharm at the end of July. Because I am traveling from Spain, my girlfriend will be arriving one day ahead of me and will be traveling from the airport to the hotel on her own. Normally, we wouldn't think twice about this, but due to the current travel advice, are there more risks than usual for a blond, busty British 30 year old woman arriving in Sharm? Should any special thought be made towards clothes? For example, wearing a hat to hide the blonde hair, should she cover arms and legs until arriving at the hotel?

Are the taxis safe for women traveling on their own, or do you advise a hotel transfer?

Hi,

Ever been to the Costa del Sol ? well Sharm is quite similar in a way.

The only thing I would recommend is to pre arrange the transfer by your hotel, this is not for safety reason but to avoid the hassle and rip off dealing with a taxi from the rank at arrivals ( that applies for men too )

Your friend won't be the only eye catching blond believe me, you should see some of the Russian ladies strutting around in astonishing high heels and hot pants.

Happy holidays.

She should be fine, I'd arrange a transfer though.

I was in Dahab only a few weeks ago and there was no problem. (Single 35yr blonde female)

Agree with above, once you're in sharm it should be fine. A small thing though, if you can, wear a ring on your ring finger, it's more acceptable for a "married" woman to be unescorted.

I have recently spoken to a security consultant who is very up to date of where is safe and where is not..He recommends that no women, no matter what age travel alone in Egypt and he includes the Red Sea area in that. He says the situation is just too unpredictable.

obviously never been to Sharm or Dahab then! lots of single females, mostly diving. Egypt is not Saudi Arabia. Just book a taxi transfer with the hotel for the airport run.

Share airport is extremely busy ...The staff and passengers have too much to do to oogle arriving passengers. But do ask your hotel to pick you up.
