Congradulations on your Odin purchase! I'm assuming you bought it at a local Poseidon dealer, or at least have access to a local Poseidon dealer for service?

David did the 'annual' on my reg this April (I bought it used but great condition.)

I don't know if you bought your Odin on the WWW or at a local dealer.......but whenever I buy a reg (any brand) I take it to an expert dive shop for a checkout to be sure all the adjustments are @ 100%.

Poseidon's are a bit different in design from most regs so you want to always take it to a Poseidon expert for the checkout...don't take it to just any ol' dive shop that happens to be handy.

Always store the 2nd stages with the 'slider switch' in the " + " position. When diving keep the primary 2nd stage slider switch in the " + " position.....and keep the 'octo' slider switch in the " - " position to stop any freeflows. Really the only time you need to use the " - " slider switch position is if the 2nd stage freeflows........my 'octo' will freeflow at the surface sometimes just before I dive, so I usually put the octo in the " - " position.......then if I want I can leave the octo in the " - " position or switch it back to the " + " position.

If you are underwater and feel your breathing a bit restricted, it's probably because you forgot to put the switch in the " + " position for max airflow.

When you pressurize the system, the 2nd stages will briefly make a rather loud 'hiss' sound (a fraction of a second long).....this is completely normal behavoir as the servo-valve inside the 2nd stage seats.

Poseidon 2nd stage purges are very powerful, so if you ever have to use the purge button, just be aware of that......it's normal for the design.

I'd recommend you use a Poseidon 'octo' 2nd stage with your reg.......don' t stick another brand octo on it, it will be more compatable and will breathe so much easier in an OOA emergency for your buddy/girlfriend.

If you've read the other Odin-threads on this board, you will see some people say the Odin has a unique personality......with some good traits and some 'controversial' traits.

I've personally never experienced any 'bad' traits.....but of course I took the precaution of having my used reg checked out by Odin experts first, so it was tuned to perfection before use.

Everyone agrees the Odin will provide an unbelievable quantity of air no matter what the conditions/depth.....which is something I really enjoy, you won't ever get out of breath with the Odin!

Pretty much you start to inhale, and your lungs are instantly filled.......so it's very relaxing to breathe, even under strenuous conditions.

Please do let us know how the Odin works out for you this weekend........I'm also diving my Odin this weekend......one of my local dive instructors is curious to test dive my Odin, so I promised to loan it to him while I tag along with his dive class this weekend. (he's got a Mares Abyss.....a very good reg as well.)

Also, may I ask how much you paid and where you bought your Odin? Some of the other board members might like a good lead if you had a good experience.
