    GT-3 vs. V16 Proton

I have narrowed my reg choices down to the V16 Proton or the GT-3. Would like divers opinions on how they compare.

    IMO go for the GT3.
If you are going for the V16 make sure it has been upgraded
If so they are both great reg's

I imagine it would be upgraded. Since I'm going to buy it new. Or is that something that they aren't doing at Mares?

You can't go wrong with either one. If there is a significant price difference, that could be the decision maker. If you prefer one dealer over another, that may make the decision, too.

I recently got the V-16 Proton Metal for $249 from Diver's Direct. I know of no upgrades. I was formerly using Oceanic.

    Happy diving!

When in stock the dealer has to take care of it
otherwise it will be done by Mares.

    So ask your dealer

I've got about 25 dives on my V16 proton XL (plastic 2nd stage) and am very happy with it! Works great and was relatively cheap.

You should probably consider how easy it is for you to get it serviced! I have a Mares dealer near my house, so service is easy. I know some people don't have easy access to a dealer, which can make things difficult for them... But this goes for any make of Reg, not just Mares...
