Long hose for a single tank

im doing it because im liking the DIR ideas and just think a all of the longer hose concepts are great ideas

i usually just take my 7ft hose and tuck some if it in where a canister light would be and then route the rest normally.

7 ft is minimum for cavern/cave,and possibly wreck,for single file air sharing.Till you get a can light or waist pocket just stowe the slack in the waistband.If your not doing dives as stated above,a 5 footer would be fine.

I use a seven foot hose with a BP/W and a single 80. I was useing clipper pockets as weight pockets on the waist belt of the BC, but stopped because I kept losing weights. I either tuck the excess in my weight belt, or pull the loop further away from my head. I find that has less strain on the mouth and does not feel like its in the way. It also does not go anywhere which suprises me, but it works. For the why. The bungied octo has yet to fall loose and drag the ground. I have not had to share sir outside of practice, but the OOA diver going for the reg in your mouth really seams likely, so that is what I prepare for. If they signal calmy not problem. Also I am thinking of going to doubles, so I wanted to get used to that set up before I add to the mix.

Hoses are pretty darned cheap, but they are a bit of an annoyance to change out frequently.

A 5' hose works for open water diving for most people. Very big men or people with very big chests sometimes find 5' is a little short for comfort, and a 6' is necessary. A 7' works for everybody, but requires management of the extra length if you aren't using anything on your right waist strap that you can route the hose under. A large pocket will do nicely for this purpose. I found tucking the bight into my waist strap to be less than satisfactory, because the waist strap had to be pretty tight to keep the hose in place. It tended to come out at precisely the moments when one wouldn't want it to, like while climbing boat ladders.

Hi there, I don't know much about any of this stuff, but I can tell you that I dive with a Halcyon Eclipse BP/W and 7' primary hose secured on my right thigh with a Halcyon zipper pocket, routed up my chest to my left shoulder and around the back of my neck. It's very comfortable and streamlined. Here's a pic! It's kinda hard to see the hose routing, but it should give you an idea if you look hard enough. Just try not to look at my legs!

I use a 7' hose on my set-up, it's a good length. When I'm not diving with a can light I wrap the hose under some shears in a sheath, or just stick it under the belt.

You could always ask a buddy if you can try his reg set-up on land, or in water, and see how the routing works for you.

With a BPW and a single 15 ft length of webbing & buckle, as with a hogarthian rig, you have two shoulders straps and a belt that comes across your waste.

The long hose will come from down from the 1st stage reg, connected to a port at the bottom of the reg. You will run this down your right side, and tuck it into the belt portion of the webbing. This is where you can take up any of the slack, and keep it in place. From there, it runs diagonally across your chest, from lower right (where it is tucked) to upper left, and around the back of your neck. Most divers also attach a small bolt snap to the end of the hose where it connects to the 2nd stage reg. Then you can attach the bolt snap to your necklace-bungee.

With a ScubaPro Mk25 or Mk 20 reg, this means you will use the bottom LP port and 3 of the middle LP ports to connect your 4 LP hoses.

I hope you are not holding your breath Jose! It looks like it, though. Because I don't see any bubbles, and those cheeks are pretty puffy.

Remember Rule #1 (by Jacques Cousteau, the OEM):

"Never Hold Your Breath While Using It!"

It also looks like you lost your snorkel somewhere, since you are in the open water, apparently. You should always have a snorkel with you when diving in the open water, because if you get separated from the boat, or you need to make a rough-beach entry, and your tank is empty, a snorkel will be your only salvation. Caves are different, but you don't look like you are properly geared up for a cave either (no cave lights).
