Can't add Diver Alert Plus to Aqualung Airsource 3

    Hi All-

I'm new to scubaboard but I have a question....

Has anyone else noticed you can't add the Diver Alert Plus to the Airsource 3? The Airsource 3 seems like such a brilliant idea but I can't believe they didn't consider the Diver Alert device can't plug inline. I purchased the airsource a few days ago when I bought a BC (Balance) and some other stuff to get setup with my own gear.

I guess I could run a separate hose for the Diver Alert Plus but that seems to defeat the purpose of having your spare air on the inflator to get rid of the extra hose.

I'm wondering if I could have the hose modified or get some fittings to make connection possible. I’m pretty crafty like that.

Here is an E-mail I sent to Aqualung today. I'm waiting for a response.

    Thanks for the help!!!

    Hi-

I recently purchased the Airsource 3 for use with my Balance BC (from Elmar Diving in Mesa AZ) . I would like to add the dive alert plus between the regulator and Airsource 3. Is there some way to retrofit the Airsource 3 or Dive alert to be compatible together? Currently there is not quick disconnect to allow this. I imagine it would just be a matter of getting the right fittings so the two would work together. I can't believe nobody would have thought about this during the design of the Airsource 3 or that I'm the first person to notice...

I called the manufacture of the dive alert plus and the gentleman I spoke with said Aqualung was going to come out with a redesign to accommodate the dive alert plus. Do you have any info about this?

Here is a link to the dive alert plus website ww.divealert.com/intro-da+.htm
Had to delete the extra w so I could post on this site.

    Thanks,

    Dustin

Nope. The connections are made so that a regular LPI hose won't fit. A regular LPI hose doesn't deliver enough air. The Diver Alert Plus is designed to fit a regular LPI connection. I suspect it might also constrict air flow making it dangerous to have in line with a regulator.
    The Devil's in the details.

Yes, there is now a conversion kit to make the hose disconnect on the older models. The newer Air source 3's now have a disconnectable hose.
