I am looking for an economical but reliable Octo.

I am going with Atomic for my primary, but I found a very inexpensive option from Zeagle that I'm considering for an Octo

If I go Atomic, I'll buy the Z2 Octo
But Zeagle Envoy is about $100 cheaper.

You guys think the Zeagle is good enough for rec diving?
If this reg is being used, it's only being used to get someone to the surface. Dive is over at that point, so I'm not sure bells and whistles are very important for the Octo.

Thanks!

Either will serve you well. Personally I would go with the Atomic, keeping your reg set the same brand can make servicing easier. Good luck

I can't think of any balanced 2nd stage having any significantly better performance than another......they're all almost identical under the skin.
Apeks, Scubapro, HOG, Zeagle, Atomic.....makes no difference.
My personal preference is not to have a soft purge cover as I've found them to crumble, soften and dis-color.

My preference is to have the oct and primary be from the same mfg for servicing purposes. It just makes life easier. Fishpie's comment about the soft purge covers is true, but they do tend to last quite a while and are cheap to replace. As I mentioned in my other post consider going the used route and over hauling with a new color kit on the Atomics - that will insure that all of the soft parts are replaced with the exception of the hose. Which it sounds like you are going the milflex route so that is not an issue.
