I read about those prices and they were insane! I guess I'm late to the party.

You could not pay me enough to go to a mega store for Black Friday. I try not to go to them at all. Especially since no charges were brought against the lady who pepper sprayed a bunch of people.

So is "Black Friday" a specific date or just a name applied when having a big sale?

I think they call it Black Friday because, aside from the Christmas season, retailers run "In the red" (Lose money) for the rest of the year. When I worked in retail, if we didn't have a good Christmas sales season, we weren't going to survive.
