Haven't bought the PeterBuilt one yet, but I have the Airspeed book, and received a mailout on the PeterBuilt. The PeterBuilt book does not claim to be a repair book, and does not contain the step-by-step instructions for different regulator models like the Airspeed book does. If you're looking for a book to teach you how to rebuild regulators, get the Airspeed book.

Hmmm....If you want step by step instructions on how to fix your reg, buy the book from airpseed press. If you want to actually know what you are doing, understand the theory involved and develop the knowledge to troubleshoot, diagnose, service and test your reg, buy Peterbuilt's book.

Hmmm...indeed. Since you put that way, I'm more interested in the later. But what does it presume you already know? (Like be sure not to crush the little men orchestrating the leevers and pullies, or, if you nick the new camshaft its gone?) In the first case, did you mean generic or brand-specific instructions.Thanks for the clarification.

The Peterbuilt book is stuffed full of diagrams to augment the narrative. It is pretty visual and does a good job of graphically describing what happens and why with just about every single hose first and second stage design in use. It also discussed the order in which things need to be done to service and adjust the regs.
It may not give you specific, step by step instructions for a specific reg, but it leaves you in a good position to figure that out for your self. And much of that information can be found online.

My regulator isn't in the Airspeed Press book and I've been cross-referencing between a french manual and an Apex manual. So instead of of learning in reverse and by extrapolation from the manuals, I think I'll get the PeterBuilt book. Thanks. You just saved me 50 bucks. Beer is in the mail.

I don't have the Peterbuilt book yet. But I do have the Airspeed Press book. It has more than step by step instructions. A good portion of the book is devoted to explaining how and why various types of regulators work. I think it could be fairly said that the Airspeed Press book attempts to provide the knowledge to troubleshoot, diagnose, serve and test regs. Perhaps the Peterbuilt book does a better job of this. I'll find out soon, as I'll probably purchase one in the next month or so.
