Jak Crow, that's a great question and think I have the answer you're looking for.
Aqua Lock was designed to give you similar performance and capabilities to that of a semi dry-suit while using the accessories (Hood, Gloves, Boots), but still allow the choice to wear it alone thereby still keeping the advantages of using it as a Wetsuit.
Hope this helps!
Jak Crow, if you are in the market already for a semi-dry, then presumably you are looking for a solution to limit water exchange through the wrist, neck and ankles. Aqua Lock's System achieves this very well and so it compares in obvious ways; but you are correct in your statement that when using Aqua Lock's full ensemble (suit, boots, gloves, hood), you will have exceptional warmth and is an excellent solution to your needs.
