Club Vera is a new dive club based in Cebu, Philippines. We exist as a place for our members to come together and enjoy their sport. There are three key aspects to our club that set us apart from a commercial operation:
Fun diving There is nothing better in life than getting together with good friends, donning on your scuba gear and taking a dive. Phil (owner of Club Vera) provides his two boats and, as there are no commercial restrictions on where we can dive, we cover the entire Visayan region of the Philippines.
Exploration Diving is our passion and we love the freedom of taking our boats to remote destinations and diving in. We are constantly searching for, and finding, new dive sites. Our GPS and depth finder help us pinpoint sites worth returning to.
Conservation We are active members of CoralWatch where our divers regularly monitor the health of the local reefs. In the past we have invited local university marine biology students onboard to conduct field studies and we plan to make this a regular activity. We also carry out reef cleanups. In our small way we try to put back a little of the huge benefits we get from the privilege of diving some of the best sites in the world.
We have existed since 1st January 2011. Our two banka boats are HMS Vera and HMS Ruby. Fitted out in luxurious fashion they are capable of supporting up to twelve divers in comfort. The crew are well trained in supporting our divers and the addition of the Mermaids sees the surface interval is almost as good as the diving itself!
Soon to rise is our clubhouse. It will comprise of an office, bedroom, spa, childrens play area, dive storage room, and possibly a swimming pool. All club business will take place there plus it makes a fantastic venue for non-diving events such as presentations, parties, social gatherings, etc.
