As a new diver, I can barely do much less do anything right but I offer my time and sweat to that which I can contribute - even if merely cheerleading from the sidelines.

The project will involve us dropping in at specific gps points at certain dive sites, and shooting video or stills that can be exactly replicated a few months later, and then continually over the next decade at wider intervals. This is something a relatively new diver can do, as long as they have a camera. Best for this if you were to go out to get one, would probably be a contour 1080p video camera, or a Go Pro video camera.
Scooter divers will cover larger tracts now, and each subsequent pass of the same sites.
The ledges will allow us to cover exactly the same locations each time--like an underwater road map :-)
More experienced divers will handle the deep reefs.
For the 220 to 270 foot stuff, we would probably be looking for a volunteer on each of these tech dives, to play "safety diver", so that when a team has sent up it's marker bouy and is at the 50 foot stop, the safety diver could jump in and swim down to them--and make sure they have everything they need (no gas failures) and that everyone is A-OK. When we have no volunteers, the dive teams would usually have members take turns doing this...which is fine too.
Dan I would also like to help with this project. Do you have some kind of a schedule for the dives that you plan to execute? I am 99% sure I can also convince my friend David that I met in fundies to join as well, and he also has a scooter and a camera (the contour).

We are working on the scheduling....Probably can announce late next week.
As you may be diving with us this sunday afternoon, I'll update you then :-)
Do you still need safety divers?
Do these tech dives to the deeper reefs go out on charters or does someone in the group own a boat?
Yes, we still need divers...and we will be using both charter boats, and sometimes George will want to use his boat...a sport fish that is awesome to say the least :-)

Hey Dan...it's great to see you still on here buddy! Now that the SS Tahoe Project is part of GUE's "Project Baseline" projects, we should see about getting some of you guys out here next year for the SS Tahoe dives...it'd be great to have you guys along! Please keep us updated on how things go down there in Palm Beach. 8^)
