    Identify this young shark

    Can anyone identify this young shark, caught off the Western Cape, South Africa?

    I'd guess it is a 'Troll Shark'. Related to the Goblin shark, but entirely fictitious?

    from seeing those beaty eyes, my guess would be a Wormil Shark.

    The photos were taken by me and my son, and the shark was caught from a boat in Gansbaai, South Africa last month. The complete photo, and some others, can be found on flickr.

    It has been suggested to me that it is a young St Joseph or elephant shark.

    It's a baby BULL SHARK. They have the upper snout that protrudes especially when their mouth is open. You will notice that in adults when they are about to bite and extend out their teeth. I have also found a pic online of one a little larger caught on a line.

    You found it. The missing link. A shark with lips. obviously a distant relative of homo sapiens. I dub it Adam (or Eve, depending).
