Three years ago we began a yearly event at The Portage Quarry in Bowling Green Ohio, that quick became a highlight event in Ohio Scuba Diving. We called it The Legends Of Scuba Diving Weekend. We began by bringing in Sam and Derbbie Lecocq, and Samuel Miller, and Alec Peirce from Canada. Sam Lecocq , who held many early patents such as the aluminum scuba cylinder, o-rings, and the American single hose regulators. Spending years at a time on the Calypso with Jacques and Simone Cousteau he was truly instrumental in bringing scuba to the waiting public. Working with Sportways and Healthways in the early years he and others that he worked with made scuba safe and available for you and I.

Sam Miller is a Scuba Historian and has one of the most extensive and complete Libraries on Diving, both free diving and scuba diving. The next year was another banner year as over $10,000 in prizes and a free trip for two to Belize was given away for the second year in a row.

Year two brought the same back to us however airport issues prevented Sam Miller from coming back. However the Gracious and still lovely Zale Parry came to liven the show up and boy did she come through. Zale starred in SeaHunt with Lloyd Bridges( Mike Nelson) as the Damsel in Distress. Of course Mike always saved her from the clutches of Death! Zales Bio can be found at: LegendsFest - The Legends of Scuba Diving - Portage Quarry

Well this year in 2008 we continue on with another icon in the History of Scuba. This years Headliner is none other than Hall of Fame legendary diver Nick Icorn. Nick Icorn has been called the “Keeper of the Flame” for preserving diving’s illustrious history through his collection of representative samples of diving gear, from snorkels to rebreathers. But his career in diving is also one of the most wide-ranging of anyone in the diving world. It includes experience in military diving, formulating instructional programs, and work as an engineer in designing equipment for sport and commercial diving. His experiences and contributions are too numerous to recount in one web page so we’ll give you an overview and some biographical highlights here, but look for more articles about Nick Icorn in the months ahead. You can read more at: Tribute to Nick Icorn - The Legends of Scuba Diving - Portage Quarry

Now the news gets even better. The Legends Event has been so popular that we have been asked to go to the Grand Bahamas to do the show there too. Even as the show in Bowling Green gets bigger and better with a treasure hunt and Two trips to Belize. April 2-6th 2009 will be the Premier of International Legends Of Diving hosted By UNEXSO ( Underwater Explorers Society) on Lacaya Bay. Please come and join Portage Quarry at the Pelican Bay Hotel at Lacaya Bay for some fun in the sun. Don't miss out on this event. To see more of what they have and a SPECIAL offer. Go reserve your spot at the event , go to: UNEXSO Shared Dates - The Legends of Scuba Diving - Portage Quarry

Nick is a very worthy choice. Well done.
