Northwoods Trash and Treasure Dive WIN A CARIBBEAN TRIP!
Northwood’s Trash and Treasure Dive
September 19, 2009
All day Saturday starting at 8am
Are you tired of seeing more and more garbage, invasive aquatic animals and are overall fed up with our lakes and beaches being polluted? Would you like to do something about it? On Saturday September 19, 2009 the YMCA of the Northwoods will be sponsoring a Trash and Treasure Dive at Lake Metonga in Crandon Wisconsin. We will be starting our day out with a trash clean of the beaches, campgrounds, and entire lake. We will be handing out special packs from PADI Project AWARE and The Wisconsin DNR to help you clean the lake and its surrounding area in conjunction with PADI Project AWARE International Clean up day. At the start of the day you will sign in and will be assigned a position and it will either be land clean, beach clean, or underwater detail. Once assigned your position, you will start your day cleaning by listening to a short briefing at 8:30am about what to look for in your designated area. The lake clean will go from 9am to 12pm at which time everyone will regroup at the south boat landing for the treasure dive!
The treasure dive will be starting at 1pm and go until 2pm. We will be hiding bobbers at the south shore landing between 15 feet and 30 feet of water. All divers will have a chance to get a bobber! Since everyone will get a bobber, everyone will win a prize! You will need to register your bobber number after you are done diving to make sure you have a chance to win one of the Grand Prizes!
After a long day of cleaning the lake and treasure hunting, we invite you to join us for lunch, which is included in your entrance fee! While you relax and enjoy lunch and some great conversation with your fellow volunteers, we will be starting to draw the prizes. At 3pm we will start drawing prizes to corresponding bobber numbers to see who has won what!
Prizes include:
A wonderful trip to St. Croix USVI (does not include air fare)! 7 days 6 nights and 5 days of diving in this untouched dive paradise!
An Apeks ATX200 Tungsten diving regulator!
A Suunto Vyper wrist mounted dive computer!
A pair of Aqua-Lung Slingshot Fins!
These are just to name a few! Everyone will win a prize, but are you lucky enough to win one of the grand prizes? Join us for a day filled with diving and excitement to find out!
Entrance Fee: YMCA Members $30 NON Members $32 (Must participate in Trash Clean)
YMCA Members$40.00 NON Members $42 (Only taking part in Treasure Dive)
Price includes Hat, T-shirt, Lunch, PADI Project AWARE Kit, $15 voucher for a new pair of Aqua Lung Slingshot fins, and a Certificate of Participation from PADI Project AWARE. All that and you are guaranteed to win a prize too!!!

Prizes are in, clean up supplies are in, lunch is ordered, t-shirts and hats are ready...are you?
We look like we are going to have another nice weekend with weather, so get your dive gear ready and make sure you are signed up for the Trash and Treasure Dive this weekend!
You can camp at the lake during the weekend if you would like, just call the Crandon Campground which has showers, bathrooms, and running water, reserve your spot quick before it fills up. Otherwise there is the Best Western right downtown if you would like the convenience of a hotel.
If you have any questions please call Mobile Divers or the YMCA of the Northwoods.
Here are the directions to the lake for everyone coming tomorrow. It looks like we will have sunny skies and a high of 73!
If you look at Google maps and type in Crandon WI, you can see that Hwy 8 goes right through crandon to the intersection of Hwy 32 and Hwy 55. Drive straight through that intersection onto E Lakeview St which turns into E Shore Dr. You will drive past the North Landing and continue on the road until you get to a T intersection at which you will take a right hand turn. You will see the parking lot and the Mobile Divers Trailer set up. Make sure you stop by and register before you take a look at the prizes! If you have any questions please call (715) 482-8919.
We are less than 24 hours away and can't wait to see you at the lake!
Very disappointing update - must be corrected asap
My good friend showed up to support this great event. He is very big on helping the local community and was glad to see that the YMCA was getting some extra funding. Lucky enough for my buddy he won the dive trip to the caribbean. Not so lucky for him he just couldn't go and knew it right after winning. He decided to give the trip back to Mobile Divers LLC in exchange for some dive equipment. It has now been over two years and neither has he received any equipment nor has Mobile Divers LLC returned his phone calls. I wish this was a case of miscommunication but the facts were pretty clear and someone went on that trip at my buddy's expense. Will someone from this forum please do their best to make sure that after two years this issue is cleared up? It will certainly go along way to ensure credibility of future events.
