(North Reading) World-renown underwater photographer and Fathoms Magazine editor Ethan Gordon, will take you on a breath-taking visual tour of the world's tropical oceans, including exotic locations like Bonaire, the shark triangle (Cocos, Malpelo, and Galapagos) and Fiji. Gordon will celebrate the underwater world with amazing photographs of some of the ocean’s largest and some of its smallest creatures. And he has a warning about the future of these remarkable habitats as they face serious environmental perils and how conservation measures can save and preserve them.

Emmy Award-winning Cinematographer Jonathan Bird will also present a recent episode of his CINE Golden Eagle-winning educational program Jonathan Bird's Blue World.

In addition, Oceanic Research Group will show its new educational internet video Sharks: Predators with a Purpose that highlights the plight of sharks due to shark fishing and finning. This film will be available after the event for free on the internet at the O.R.G. website (Oceanic Research Group) as part of its Streaming Video Project.

There will be raffles and silent auctions for dozens of special items for the diver and for people who love the ocean, including a dive in the New England Aquarium Giant Ocean Tank, Wyland Limited Edition Lithograph, BOSE wave radio, dive gear, books, prints, and more.

All of this will help raise money for the Oceanic Research Group, Inc. Marine Scholarship Program which aids college or graduate students pursuing marine-related studies. The 2007 scholarship will be awarded at the benefit.

Oceanic Research Group (O.R.G.) is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, environmental organization dedicated to the conservation of the world's oceans and marine life through education. Its primary activity is producing educational products such as videos and other materials to help conserve and protect marine life by raising awareness to ocean issues. It is also the sponsor of Jonathan Bird's Blue World, an internet educational adventure program, and the Oceanic Research Group Marine Scholarship Program.

O.R.G. has received three CINDY Awards, a CINE Golden Eagle Award, and a KIDS FIRST! endorsement for its educational films, and two New England Emmy Awards for its broadcast features on WCVB-TV’s Chronicle.
