Having issues using the search function

In the last few days everytime I try a search it comes back something along the lines of you need 3 or more words minimum. For instance I tried finding Gary D. post about his accident. Searched for the Title "Gary D." then "Gary D.*" then finally "Gary D.* * *" no luck this isn't the first time just the most resent.

If you search for "Gary D." you'll get the following message.

The search term you specified (D.) is under the minimum word length (3) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.

If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.

Thanks El Orans I did try the wildcard thing and it didn't work. I did find it the hard way earlier
trying "Gary D.*" also gave me the error. searching on just Gary though seemed to have worked yay.

You can cheat and use Google to search these forums. ("scubapro recall site:http://www.scubaboard.com/forums") I created a Google Toolbar button for searching the forum w/o typing so much, if you are interested. It suits me better than the built-in search. PM me if you are interested....

Neat, I added that to my Firefox, and it takes me to the forums page - not a search. Is that correct...?

If the search dialog box on the Google toolbar is empty, then it just takes you to the forum page. If you type something in the box and then click the dive flag button, then you should be presented with Google search results from SB.
