Anyone else enjoying snorkeling the San Marcos (Texas) River?

I am a SCUBA diver; my husband is not. We both enjoy snorkeling the crystal-clear San Marcos. We usually get in near the Lion's Club tube rental area. Anyone else enjoying this? What is the strangest thing you've found in the river?

When I lived in San Antonio, we would scuba dive the Comal River in New Braunfels - very popular with the tubing crowd as well (and 73 degrees year round)... wallets, cell phones, tons of sunglasses on every single dive, a buddy found a real rolex watch, another $600 cash in a wallet with no ID, another found a gold ring with some small diamonds...

strangest thing - a 5' catfish and 18" or bigger plecostomus (look it up, they start out tiny)...
PADI Instructor - back in the states, not doing the diving thing... got a real job for now...

As far as season, it is 70 degrees F year-round, so you can go anytime. We usually stay in a pretty small area (no more than 0.25 mile) but you could snorkel on down the river a pretty long way - people kayak and tube down a mile or more, and there are places to get out the river further down.
