Snorkeling pics from the Sea of Cortez, Mexico

I recently returned from a two week snorkeling trip to southern Baja California, Mexico. I spent most of my time in Cabo Pulmo and a few days near Cabo San Lucas. Cabo Pulmo is a Mexican underwater park that I really enjoyed when I visited two years ago. However, I can no longer recommend this place because the park's regulations have made it "unfriendly" to snorkelers/freedivers. I intend to explain this in a separate post.

I acquired a new camera, a Canon PowerShot S95, just before the trip. Some of the macro shots were definitely better than my old camera (Canon PowerShot A630), but for other shots there wasn't a dramatic improvement. There is probably still some learning I need to do with the new camera.

Here are some of the better photos. I recommend viewing them in the larger size (1024 pixels wide) because I do not like the way ScubaBoard has arbitrarily resized them in the post.

    Hermit crab, Cabo Pulmo

    Guitarfish, Cabo Pulmo

Reef scene, Playa Chileno near Cabo San Lucas

Yellowtail surgeonfish, Playa Chileno near Cabo San Lucas

Moorish idols and other fish, Cabo Pulmo

    Huge goatfish school, Cabo Pulmo

Nice close-up of a Bradley's starfish, Cabo Pulmo

Very nice! I've been fighting internally about the S95 vs G12, these shots are making that even more difficult
