The Aeris F10 is a great new product that came onto the market in 2009. It was co-designed by World Record Freediver, Martin Stepanek and has some additional features not available in any other freedive computer. The F10 retails at a very nice price point and, so far, everyone from the freediving community has given it the thumbs up. The Suunto D4 is another popular one, although not being "freedive specific" so the additional features for Scuba up the price unnecessarily. Back in the day, our favourite was the D3, it's a shame they discontinued it. Oh, and their is a new Beuchat (not the mundial) thats on the market - this is essentially the Aeris F10 just in a different housing :-)

Thanks for your response. We've tested almost all the Suuntos over the span of our gear testing careers. But I havent had a chance to try out the Aeris F10. Hopefully they will let us test it in one of our upcoming gear tests.
How do you like the software for the downloaded dives? I tested the Aeris software back in 2006 and I remember I had trouble with the connections and transferring data. Just wondering if they have improved that at all?

    Thanks again
    Jeff

I agree, I wouldn't have touched an Aeris up till the F10 was released. I do not recommend the GEO for freediving.

I find the Aeris F10 user friendly and downloading the information into my laptop is just a matter of clipping on the cable. Its incredibly simple to use. They recently launched the V.2 which now has the feature for you to personally update the firmware. If you dig around online in freediving forums there are many in depth technical reviews.

For me, the most important feature is the Chrono mode that is readable at depth. It is essential for safety and every other freediving computer on the market jumps to Dive Mode on descent. With the F10 you can switch between the Timer/Chrono and the Depth Mode enabling you to carefully calculate how your diver is doing. This is paramount for dives over 66ft and its amazing that only one freedive computer offers this key feature.
