Sorry to bother u again. Can I ask u one more thing? Is the Marriott vacation club u mentioned close to pumphouse called Marriott the "Vacation Club Ocean Pointe"? Finally, comparing the mariott vacation club and mariott spa, which one offers easier access to beach? which hotels' beach has more fish or reef? If i did not understand incorrectly, you seem to suggest vacation club ocean pointe is better for snorkeling because u mention the area around the pumphouse is very good for snorkeling and maroitt vacation is closer to the pumphouse. What about sand as well as water quality? Which has a better beach and sand and clearer water? (are they similar?)This is really the last time i bombard you with my questions. Hope u wont mind. I hope to hear from you. Thanks for your detailed message.

No bother .. It is the Marriott's Ocean Pointe, Vacation Club....technically Palm Beach Shores, which is a small subdivision of singer Island. It is on the same beach that the Marriott Resort and Spa is on, just further south down the island, and where the Ocean Pointe is, the snorkeling is the best in all of florida, due to the pumphouse dive...which I think I posted a you tube video of for you...?
I actually was there yesterday, and asked them about whether divers that can't get into the Hilton due to 100% occupancy, can have any access to unused weeks at this timeshare, and the answer was YES. It is harder to plan way in advance, but if the people that own a timeshare unit do not decide to use it in a given week or month, then this can be used like a hotel room..and often is. This would be your best option, as a snorkelor. In the photo, the Marriott Ocean Pointe is the last resort right at the south end of the island, by the pumphouse structure you can see at the end of the beach...the pumphouse and jetty are spectacular snorkeling and scuba diving, but very hard for most scuba divers to get to--so few ever get the chance to dive here. You have to contact the main Marriott number and ask them to get you the booking or whatever they would call this....If you do this, I would like you to give me feedback on this for divers, as my www.sfdj.com magazine for scuba divers, would benefit divers more with a recap of a stay at this alternative to the Hilton.
One more thought. There is a wreck within snorkeling distance of the beach in Delray Beach, not too far south of West Palm Beach. It's a little far offshore so you should take a dive flag with you. I think it's mostly just the ship's boiler that is left above the sand, but from the photos it looks interesting if you get a calm day with good visibility. If you do a search for "Delray wreck" I'm sure you will find details about this wreck and how to locate it from the beach. I have long wanted to check this out.
I'm planning a trip to Florida in mid-March. Since it will be colder, how much further down into the Keys do you think I should plan to go? I'll go with my diving gear so won't be uncomfortable, but my wife and granddaughter will need warmer water than I. One major complication - I'd probably be based in Ft. Lauderdale. What do you see as the warmest/best snorkeling within a reasonable drive time from there?
Would there some dive boats that might take snorkelers, perhaps?
My favorite shallow reef in the Florida Keys is Sombrero reef light house which is off Marathon. Its perfect for snorkeling. Any of the dive shops will be able to take you there. I would recommend Tilden's Scuba Center.
