Hello mikkeahh, welcome to SB! I'm in Florida so I'm no help with San Diego dive shops/ops. However, you're in luck! No doubt there is someone here with answers for you. The regoinal forums will put you in touch with local divers from almost anyplace you'd like information about. Feel free to PM me if you need any help finding your way around here. Welcome aboard and enjoy!

Hello!
Thanks for the info. I found one shop that's about 5 mi from my hotel, so I've emailed them & we'll see what happens. I think I'd rather stick with FL diving - looks like water temp will be about 60 in SD :(

I checked that one - wish I would be around on the 28th. I emailed Dive Bliss to see if they would do anything during the week. Looks like it will be a bit colder than I expected, but hey, better than Ohio!!

Nice to have you join us. Help yourself to all the appropriate forums, and let me know if I can help you find your way...!!

Don't know San Diego - I'd have to post on the Souther Calf forum....

As to the San Diego area, I did a dive in Mission Bay. It started in the "bay" along the north jetty and wrapped along the inside of the north jetty. I was very disappointed. There are other local dives that are much better.

Mikkeahh,

60 degrees is no prob with a good 7 mil wetsuit which you should be able to rent. If the visability is good a dive in the kelp beds will be unlike anything you have experienced in Florida. A trip to Los Coronados can get you good viz even when the mainland sucks. What dates are you going to be here?

Here are some links to the dive boats that run regularly scheduled trips:

They usually do wreck alley/yukon/kelp beds on Saturday & Coronados on Sunday. YMMV.
